In the academic year 07/08, the Student Switch Off helped to reduce electricity usage across the Universities by an average of 8.9% and kept a total of 560 tonnes of CO2 out of the atmosphere. The energy saved was equivalent to the amount required to power a 15 Watt energy-saving lightbulb for over 9,900 years. It just goes to show that small actions can have a massive effect.
