Overall there was an 11.2% reduction in energy use in October and November in the Winchester University halls of residence compared with previous years - saving of 12 tonnes of CO2. This is the equivalent to the amount of energy used to:
- Power a 15 watt energy saving light bulb for 168 years
- Make 690,000 cups of tea
- Fly 133 times from London to Manchester
This was due to a combination of hundreds of students using energy carefully in halls this year, as well as measures taken by the College to improve energy efficiency.
