The results are in.... and Sansome students have won the Student Switch Off competition this year, with a reduction of 9%, or 0.8 kWh per student per day.  Well done to everyone who took simple actions to save energy in Sansome and helped to achieve such a great result!

Overall, this year there's been an average decrease in electricity consumption of 12% across all the halls, which means that together you've saved over 19 tonnes of CO2 from being emitted.  That's the equivalent of the amount of energy used to:

  • power an energy-saving lightbulb for 272 years
  • make over 1.1million cups of tea
  • fly from London to Manchester and back 215 times!

Here's how the halls fared against each other:

Avon and Ledbury halls could not compete in the overall competition as there is no historical energy data available for these halls..
