2011/12 latest results

So far in 2011/12, electricity usage in halls of residence has reduced by 1.7% compared to the baseline usage. All that energy saved…

  • Has kept 5 tonnes of CO2 out of the atmosphere
  • Could keep a 15W energy-saving lightbulb on for 74 years!
  • Could boil 300,000 cups of tea!

These savings have been brought about largely as the result of the 200+ students in halls who have pledged to do their bit to save energy and encourage their flatmates to – great work!

The latest leaderboard shows Maurice, Lynden, Rich Fielden and Beaumont fighting it out at the top…the competition continues to the end of the academic year so there’s plenty of time for the other halls to catch up. There’s a prize and a trophy for the winning hall so make sure your switching off those lights and putting lids on your pans! If your not on the leader board it’s because we’ve had a bit of trouble collecting the information from the electricity meters in your building. Keep saving energy and we’ll get it all worked out before the end of the year.

There’s lots of individual prizes to win to, including Ben & Jerry’s vouchers, Cinema tickets, LUSH Gift Boxes and much more. Make sure you’ve liked the QMUL Student Switch Off facebook fanpage or joined the email list to find out how to pick up these prizes.
