The winners of the Student Switch off 2011/12 are… The Village who pipped Britten, Constable and Paston to the title! Across all the halls of residence energy usage has reduced by 3.6% compared to the baseline usage. This is the equivalent amount of energy needed to:
- Keep 49 tonnes of CO2 out of the atmosphere
- Keep a 15W energy-saving lightbulb on for 697 years!
- Boil 2.8 million cups of tea!
These savings have been brought about largely as the result of the 400+ students in halls who have pledged to do their bit to save energy and encourage their flatmates – great work everyone! Individual competitions continue to the end of the academic year so keep up the great energy-saving work to win loads of prizes including Ben & Jerry’s vouchers, LCR tickets and much more.
N.B There were data issues with Colman and Kett so they haven’t been included in the overall leaderboard.
